pro tip: if your installing this, do the group N transmission mount and bushings while your at it. and that top bolt on the little shield you remove. hardest part is getting the new plate lined up to punch the pin through. im combining this with a perrin shift bushing and shift stop. I installed this product and immediatly felt the improvements. This has dramatically changed the drivability of the vehicle, makes the shifts crisp and smooth. I have this paired with the Boomba Racing Short Shifter.

Be careful when pulling the chrome ring out so you don't break it like I did. I don't plan on getting a blowfish bracket or MGW, so this was a happy medium. Obviously doesn't do anything for notchiness or slop, except for the fact that you shift slightly faster so there is less time for play to affect your shift. I like the black reverse lockout sleeve compared to stock. I can't recall if the stock shifter did this. Makes an audible "click" when you hit the stops all the way to the left when pushing into first or second. It also makes more noise when going up and down compared to stock, but not a big deal. Takes a lot more effort, and because the shifter is deeper in the console it's a little more awkward to pull it up. The reverse lockout is much stiffer than stock. Another inch or two shorter and it would have been trouble, but it's just long enough for it to work. Almost so close and short that you can't get your hand behind it.
The knob is VERY close to the chrome shit boot surround when in 2/4/6. Yes, it's a more natural arm angle but the rubbing may bother me, we'll see. When I have my hand on the shift knob and I pull it back into 2/4/6 the heel of my hand is rubbing up against the center console. Much much much shorter than the stock shifter. Not the end of the world, but be careful. I was pulling up and wiggling and it detached from the ring that clips into the console. I broke the plastic chrome ring around the shift boot. Here are my immediate impressions from my short 10 minute drive to work. Installed my short throw shifter today during lunch.
